EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES INSTRUCTOR Indian River Community College – Fort Pierce, Florida $45,200 - $53,180 (10 month contract) RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 1. Teaching including presenting lecture materials using multiple teaching methodologies, demonstrating psychomotor skills, evaluating affective qualities of students. 2. Coordinating and directing clinical educational experiences of the EMT/paramedic students; integrating academic and clinical experiences in the 4-county service district of IRCC; and ensuring that the clinical environment provides for equitable student learning opportunities; 3. Demonstrating safe patient management, professional behavior and sound judgment; 4. Evaluating students in the classroom, lab and clinical settings. 5. Demonstrating knowledge regarding the National Curriculum for EMT-B and Paramedic, State of Florida requirements , curriculum design, program planning, and accreditation; and 6. Continuous updating of knowledge and technical expertise in the field of emergency medicine as well as proficiency in instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a minimum of an AS degree in Emergency Medical Services, Nursing or related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. The candidate must be a State of Florida Registered Nurse and/or a Florida State certified Paramedic. This position requires the following qualifications/ certifications at the provider level: AHA ACLS and AHA CPR. Recommended certification in BTLS or PHTLS, and PALS or PEPP (or within 1-year of hire, must obtain instructor status in ACLS, and either one of the pre-hospital trauma courses and one of the pre-hospital pediatric courses). This position also requires current knowledge and technical skills in the field of pre-hospital emergency medicine; competence as a clinician in emergency medicine; teaching and supervisory skills; effective oral and written communication; the ability to work as a member of a team; and computer literacy with Microsoft Office software.
